Katie and Jacob Thompson kept hearing the same complaint from friends and neighbors: hire a designer, then hire a separate contractor, then spend months playing messenger between two people who had never met. Somewhere in that back-and-forth, the homeowner’s actual vision often got lost. In 2006, the married couple set out to fix that by starting a company that would design a home and build it under one roof, so one crew stayed responsible from the first sketch through the final walkthrough.
That idea is what eventually carried Home Run Design + Remodel across the water to Bellevue. Homeowners here were running into the same gap, a set of drawings from one firm interpreted differently by a separate crew once construction began, and they wanted a team willing to own the whole process instead of handing it off partway through.
Katie and Jacob still run the company on that same logic today. A project in Bellevue starts with the two of them sitting down to learn how a family actually uses a house, whether it sits near Wilburton Hill Park or in newer construction closer to downtown, well before a crew ever shows up.
